The Rockville Centre Chamber promotes and represents the interests of its business and professional members. We are dedicated to serving our members through advocacy, representation, communication and education.
January started a new membership year with a new president and goals of increasing membership, increasing involvement with the community and generally making the chamber a more dynamic and effective group. Along with our other functions, the Chamber serves as an information source for businesses, residents and visitors.
The Chamber offers valuable networking opportunities. Building relationships is an important part of building one’s own business. Wouldn’t you rather do business with someone you know? Many find that membership has created opportunities for additional business. There are other opportunities for new business through our group. The Chamber receives many requests for referrals of various products and services. Members are the businesses referred. Many businesses may not be aware that the customers in their store or requesting their service may be there through a recommendation of the Chamber. We support our membership through referrals and encourage all the members to use the membership as the first resource for products and service.
The membership provides one another with a large resource of information using our individual skills and experience. For example, if you had a brief legal or accounting question, you could ask another member rather than having to hire someone or do without the information.
As a group we can offer guidance in dealing with the village, understanding village procedures and rules, and perhaps how to handle questions, concerns or problems related to the village government. We have a good working relationship with the village government. The Chamber is one of the ways a businessperson can be involved with and communicate with our Village government. We represent the interests of our members in all our dealings with the Village and try to be their voice.
We have monthly general meetings to discuss concerns and bring new ideas as well as to follow progress of Chamber issues and events. Of course these are also excellent opportunities to network. The following committees are currently in place:
- Open Meetings
- “Give-Back” program - programs involving the community such as Holiday Home
- Decorating Contest, Cutest pet etc.
- Parking Education
- Creating a RVC Chamber Guide for distribution.
We welcome any Rockville Centre Business or professional person to become a member and to join any of these committees or inspire a new one. JOIN US and make a difference!
